Elizabeth Marie Santiago Berken was born on July 25, 1985 in Denver, Colorado. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Ringling College of Art and Design in 2009. From an early age, it was clear to Elizabeth’s parents that she would be artistically-inclined. The evidence? Elizabeth picked up a spoon with her left hand. As a young girl and later student, Elizabeth enrolled in art classes, participated in young artists’ tournaments, studied and lived in Europe for Study Abroad. She finds traveling meets the soul. Dreams had always played an important part in Elizabeth’s art, but by the age of 17, Elizabeth had a profound life-changing vision. It was one of watching the world slowly gravitate towards a universal spiritual awakening. Initially, Elizabeth planned to attend fashion school in New York, but decided to go back to her original love of painting. She still considers fashion to be a huge part of her life. Now, Elizabeth mostly uses textile fabric for her canvas and plays around using mix media. She receives inspiration from many sources–her dreams (of course), movies, mythology, music, astrology, philosophy, eyes of the beholder, surrealism, and Alchemy. Elizabeth uses a multiple of mediums, including acrylics, ink, textiles, fabric, charcoal, glass, wood.
